Whenever God showers a people or a community with His favour and His grace, he invariably requires some sacrifice from them. In other words, sacrifice is essential if one wants to gain the nearness of Allah and His pleasure. God Almighty says in the Holy Quran: “You cannot attain to righteousness unless you spend out of that which you love; and whatever you spend, Allah surely knows it well.” (3:93)

Zakat
Zakat is a fundamental pillar of Islam, and it is obligatory on Muslims who have held money or monetary forms in possession for one year, if in excess of the threshold (Nisab).
The New Dedication (Waqfe Jadid)
Allah Almighty has emphasised in the Holy Qur’an that every Muslim should make financial sacrifices. Hence there are several financial sacrifice schemes in the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community known as “Chanda” for the propagation of Islam. Before taking a big step new ahmadi brothers and sisters are encouraged to participate in a blessed scheme named “Waqfe Jadid” (The New Dedication). Beloved Huzur, may Allah be his helper, said in his Friday Sermon of January 9, 2004:
“At the very beginning it should be made clear upon New Ahmadis that if in the beginning they do not or cannot pay Chanda at the prescribed rate, as they have not yet had the proper training, they should be asked to start paying Chanda Waqf-e-Jadid or Chanda Tahrik-e-Jadid. Soon they will get used to it and will even get pleasure out of paying Chanda.”
